Healing Circles

The Healing Circle is a non-denominational support group that explores how the uncomfortable, sometimes painful issues in our lives can often become our gifts on the path of awakening. It is based on the “Unconditional Healing” teachings that have been presented in a series of workshops by Jeff Rubin over the last several years. During these sessions, we explore the real meaning of “healing” as opposed to “cure”. We consider that illness or significant adversity is a profound and auspicious occasion in our lives, allowing us to take stock of ourselves and explore our underlying core beliefs.

Healing Circles have two main objectives. One is to provide support and reassurance to folks that are often experiencing immense suffering due to feelings of isolation, stigma and trauma. Truth be told, the mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of illness and adversity are often more problematic than the physical aspects, but through gathering together and sharing, we discover new perspectives on our situation. We realize that others are going through difficult situations too, and that activates our inherent feelings of tenderness and loving-kindness.

The second objective of the Healing Circle is to expose the false beliefs that we hold about the nature of adversity and well being that cause us unnecessary suffering. Through meditation practice and various healing exercises, we can see through the insubstantial nature of our thoughts and emotions and contemplate a more expansive perspective of our human condition. We uncover a reservoir of unchanging health and goodness that exists in our heart always regardless of our external circumstances.

Meetings always include meditation practice, and may also include teachings, group discussions, contemplation practice, as well as the opportunity to share our hopes, fears, confusion and wisdom in a safe, confidential environment. Tea and snacks are always served.
